GAS SCAM
Police officer Charles Gonzales noticed a Cadillac by the side of the road. It was the third time he spotted the stranded motorist. That raised his curiosity, so he stopped and asked the driver what the trouble was. He said a starte, but the vehicle started right up. That's when another motorist stopped by with a can of gas. The driver told the officer that the Cadillac owner had claimed to have run out of gas and was broke. So the driver decided to be a good Samaritan. It ends up the guy had 4 full 1 gallon cans of gas in the trunk and had been pulling the scam all day to fill up his tank.

A PRACTICAL JET PACK
Inventor Glen Martin unveiled his jet pack in Wisconsin the other day before thousands of cheering spectators. His 16 year old son was elevated for 45 seconds about 3 feet above the ground in a jet pack. The Martin Jet Pack is theoretically capable of flying an average-sized pilot 30 miles in 30 minutes on a full tank of fuel - it carries five gallons. Most previous jet packs have lasted only a few minutes before running out of fuel. It's designed to meet FAA requirements for an ultra light, so no pilots license is required. It'll set you back about $100,000.

To gauge the effect of sound levels on drinking, the team spent three Saturday nights visiting two bars, where they observed 40 men aged between 18 and 25 drinking beer. Louder music spurred more consumption, with the average number of drinks ordered by patrons rising to 3.4 drinks from 2.6 drinks The time taken to drink a beer fell to an average 11.45 minutes from 14.51 minutes. Others in the building reported an avalanche of hailstones blowing out of their toilets. The golf ball sized hail backup was caused by hailstones flooding into a local drain during a torrential downpour, which became blocked.

LIFE LIKE BABY
FRANTIC police smashed a window to rescue a seemingly unconscious baby from a locked vehicle in Queensland last week only to find it was an extremely lifelike doll. The embarrassing mistake, made in regional Gympie, is not an isolated incident and passionate creator of the "reborn" baby dolls Vynette Cernik knows just how easily they can be mistaken for the real thing.Ms Cernik said last week's case of mistaken identity mirrored a similar incident in the US when the window of a new Hummer was broken by police trying to rescue a "baby" that turned out to be a doll belonging to the owner's wife.Selling for up to $1000, the painstakingly hand-painted dolls were so lifelike with eyelashes, fingernails, milk spots and wispy hair that they were constantly fooling people, Ms Cernik said. A police officer involved said that warning cards on the dolls might be a good idea.

WHISPER IN CHURCH
Once there was a little boy in church. He had to go to the bathroom so he told his mother, ''Mommy, I have to piss.''
The mother said, ''Son don't say piss in church. Next time you have to piss, say, 'whisper' because it is more polite.
The next Sunday, the little boy was sitting by his father this time, and once again, he had to go to the bathroom.
He told his father, ''Daddy I have to whisper.''
The father said, ''OK. Here, whisper in my ear.''

FREE KISSES
A gas station owner in Mississippi was trying to increase his sales, so he put up a sign that read, "Free Kisses with Fill-Up."
Soon a local redneck pulled in, filled his tank and asked for his free kisses. The owner told him to pick a number from 1 to 10. If he guessed correctly he would get his free kisses. The redneck guessed 8, and the proprietor said, "You were close. The number was 7.... sorry, no kisses this time."
A week later, the same redneck, along with a buddy, Bubba, pulled in for another fill-up. Again he asked for his free kisses. The proprietor again asked him to guess the correct number. The redneck guessed 2 this time. The proprietor said, "Sorry, it was 3. You were close, but no free kisses this time."
As they were driving away, the redneck said to his buddy, "I think that game is rigged and he doesn't really give away free kisses." Bubba replied, " No it ain't, Billy Ray. It ain't rigged. My wife won twicelast week.

WHAT'S IN A TOWN NAME?
Nowthen, Minnesota is officially a town. They voted in a city council and mayor and made the name change official from Burnsville Township to Nowthen. The town name came from a mistake in naming the post office in the 1800's when a community leader created a list of possible names for the post office and wrote, "Nowthen, one of these ought to do." It stuck, now it's official. Other town names I'd like to see, ThisNThat, Ain't All That.

YOU CALL THIS ART?
Martin Creed once created "art work" that involved lights turning off and on. He even won the prestigious Turner Art Award for that work. His latest "work?" Fifty sports club runners were signed up at $20 each an hour, to sprint through an art gallery. They have been instructed to run "as if their life depended on it". The piece was inspired by a trip to the catacombs of the Cappuccini monks in Palermo, Italy. Arriving just before closing time, Creed and his friends had only five minutes in which to cram in as much as possible.

BEING REALLY CAREFUL AT THE ATM
Hans Mauer, had a fear of identity theft at ATM machines. So much so that he never used them. When he finally did he inspected the cash machine for hidden cameras, fingerprint powder on the keyboard, and signs of tampering with the screen. He even slipped on a pair of surgical gloves, so as not to leave any finger prints. He spent so long checking the ATM that other users called police suspecting identity fraud. He was arrested!!
