REALLY BIG WATER BILL....
Don Mathis of Houston was writing out checks. He accidently sent a $99,000 check meant for a certificate of deposit to Houston's Public Works department where it was processed, endorsed and deposited automatically. MARRIAGE OFF TO ROCKY START.....
Dr. David Wielechowski and Christa Vattimo may want to get some anger management. They both ended up in jail after renewing their vows Saturday night. The fight started Saturday night after the reception when thegroom knocked the bride to the floor with a karate kick in a Holiday Inn. The fight escalated when the bride attacked two guests from another wedding party who came to her aid.




SOMETHING SEEMS DIFFERENT HERE....
Imagine being Doug Evans fishing with your family at your favorite fishing hole when it seems the water level is going lower and lower. SUre enough during the course of the day from about noon until about 4pm the pond in the Denman Wildlife Area in Southern Oregon became just a mud puddle with flopping fish in the middle. It seems a dam had broken and the water all seeped out.

WHERE'D THAT WATER COME FROM?
Someone stole a drainage hose from a washing machine. They were using it to siphon gas from cars, but there's another dynamic to this crime. The thief is also responsible for damage because water ran for more than two hours, and flooded the area after several inches of water collected in the laundry room and four apartments of the New Castle County, Delaware apartment complex.

CARJACKER ASKS FOR DIRECTIONS
Not only that, but WOIO-TV newswoman Shannon O'Brien and photographer Eric Walls were doing a sidewalk report Monday on bank problems when the passenger in a car asked for directions to a bank. The driver indicated that he was being held at gunpoint by the inquiring carjacker. They called pCleveland police, the suspect is now behind bars.

Harry Pollack owns a gas station in Mequon, Wis. He shut down the pumps yesterday for 24 hours to protest high gas prices. He says $3.69 a gallon is just too much.

Police in Santa Fe are investigating the theft of sunglasses. $28,000 worth of high end Versace, Gucci and Christian Dior sunglasses. DRINKING BUDDY UPDATE........
I had the story a few weeks back about the son of an elderly British gentleman who was advertising for someone to share a pint at the local pub. Jack Hammond, 88, struggled to find someone to have a beer with after moving from his Barton-on-Sea apartment to an assited living home. His son Mike posted an ad and 2 gentlemen will be Jack's drinking buddies, sharing old WWI stories. One will take the $10/hour to supplement his pension, the other will just be there for the good conversation.

Investment banker Dan Cook was making close to $150,000 a year. He gave it all up to get away from the stress and set himself up as a carpenter. One problem. GPS PROBLEMS
A mini bus driver in Norfolk, England was following his GPS navigation system so closely in trying to find a fare, he didn't notice that he was driving straight into the Nar river. Fortunately he had no passengers aboard - but he did have the embarrassment of having to call his bosses for help. A 69 year old Oldsmar, Florida woman got an midnight surprise when she walked into her kitchen only to find an 8 foot alligator. Sandra Frosti says the gator must have pushed through the back porch screen door and then went inside through an open sliding glass door at her home in Oldsmar, just north of Tampa. It then apparently strolled through the living room, down a hall and into the kitchen.

James Caan stormed off the set of the political comedy "Nailed" last week and now won't be back and the reason? Diffferences over a cookie. German police were called after a man was reported running oon a major highway pulling along a 3 wheeled trailer behind him. He was towing the load with a rod attached to his back. "Officers' initial astonishment quickly turned into admiration," a police statement said on Tuesday. So, Tom and Paula Tschudi planted 3,000 white plastic forks in the Jones’ yard and dangled more from the roof, fence and garage. “We just wanted to do something funny to them, because every time we leave, they pull some prank on us,”

UNUSUAL PASSENGER
William Johnson was driving erratically outside Brazoria, TX when officers pulled him over. Then they found out the reason for the eraatic driving, a 6 foot alligator in the backseat, which Johnson claimed he found by the side of the road. Johnson was charged with illegal possession of an alligator. He was also found to be in possession of stolen goods from a recent burglary and was remanded in custody.

KID TOWED AWAY...
A tow truck driver unknowingly hauled away a car with a 7-year-old asleep inside before returning the vehicle minutes later and speeding away. Fidel Retana Jr., hooked up a car that was in a fire lane and towed it, not realizing there was a sleeping 7 year old kid inside. When he realized his mistake he went back and hurridly unhooked the car and sped away. He was pulled over a short time later and arrested on child endangerment charges. But police said Tuesday they expect to drop the charges.

DOGGIE SWITCH
Ken Griggs dropped off his black lab, Callie off at an Oregon kennel. Wehn he picked up the dog he's pretty sure he was given the wrong dog. Now he wants Callie back. His veterinarian tells The Oregonian newspaper the dog Griggs has isn't Callie. But the kennel owners disagree. They say none of the other black Lab owners complained about a switch. The investigation is on....

LEAVE THE AMBULANCE HERE PLEASE....
Mickey Terry was discharged from a Longmont, CO hospital. He then stole an ambulence from the emergency while it's crew was away with a recently unloaded patient. He then took off and was pulled by officers. He then took off again with officers in pursuit of the ambulence which was now going 80-100 mph with lights and siren blazing and motorists yeilding to allow the emergency vehicle through. He eventuall crashed and was returned to the hospital, this time with charges also pending.

I'm not sure why, but a 12 year old boy has gone for the balloon-blowing record by a nose. Blowing through one nostril at a time, Andrew Dahl of Blaine, Washington inflated 213 balloons within an hour Friday. Andrew's first attempt at Guiness fame, 184 balloons in February was rejected because his father tied the balloons. This time he tied them off himself. I don't know about you, but I'm holding my breath!

Here's another one I don't get. But Lai Yingying, starpped on some steel shoes twice his own weight. Then he did what all self respecting record seekers do, he pushed a truck weighed 3 tons and loaded down with 9 people about 15 yards to an appreciative crowd in China. ELEVATOR FALL
This is just incredible. Jens Wilhelms, was unhurt after falling 25 feet down an open elevator shaft under repair in Grankfurt, Germany. What makes this story incredible is that he fell on top of a woman who had fallen down the same shaft a day earlier. She was injured in the original fall and injured again when Mr. Wilhelms fell on top of her. Police are investigating why the shaft wasn't more securely roped off.

ONE HOT PROPOSAL
Lawrence Waterhouse mad his proposal somthing to remember. He lit the romantic scene with candles in the trees and scented candles in a chandelier in a gazebo. One thing. He apparently forgot to extinguish all the candles which started a fire engulfing the gazebo hours later. Firefighters caught up with Mr. Waterhouse at a local airport as we was getting set to leave on a trip with his new fiancee.... They informed him, he got on the flight to enjoy some time away.

An Australian man was pulled over going 125 MPH. Apparently he was involved in a vigorous argument with his wife on his cell phone and didn't realize he had reached 125 MPH in a suburb of Sydney. Sam and Charlie are two other parrots at the Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary in Britain. "They just sit there swearing at each other now, all kind of foul language - it's unbelievable." Says one worker.

A few days I had the story about birthday cakes being banned in a school, now police in Norfolk, in Britain are asking supermarkets to NOT sell squirty bottles of ketchup to kids, who've been using the condiment as a weapon with it being sprayed over homes and cars. Eggs are also banned. Apparently there's been a noticeab;le drop in food based vandalism since the ban went into effect.

We've all heard the postal motto to deliver the mail now matter what. That should probably also include dogs, but now add angry horny wild turkeys to the list of hazards carriers are facing. About five to 10 of the birds have been pecking at Madison Wisconsin postal workers as they make their rounds, and some of the birds have attacked the letter carriers with the sharp spurs on their legs. One of the birds went through the open door of a mail truck and scratched the driver.

Dedre Rodriquez too the law and an ice scraper into her own hands when she found a 16 year old burgler fleeing her home with an armload of video games, jewelry and other loot. The Cedar Rapids, IA woman chased down the bad guy and made him surrender under threat of a de-icing. DON'T MESS WITH LIVERPOOL
Ringo Starr outraged Liverpool residents when he said he missed "nothing" about the town where he got his start as a BEATLE. It didn't take long for some residents to exact revenge for the snub. Ringo's head was lopped off a recently revealed topiary of the fab four. Dubbed the "Fab Foliage" and "Thicket to Ride" it included life-sized figures of the legendary band. John, Paul and George were left untouched but the drummer is now with his leafy head.

WHITER SHADE OF PALE ROYALTIES FIGHT
Procol Harum founder Gary Brooker on Friday won his court battle over royalty rights to the band's most famous hit, the 1967 song "A Whiter Shade of Pale." In 2006 a court awarded Matthew Fisher 40 percent of the copyright of the track, which has sold an estimated 10 million copies worldwide, after he successfully argued that he wrote the organ music to the song. The judge in reversing that ruling said Fisher should receive rights, but not any money because he waitid 38 years to challenge.

In another case of the robber leaves behind ID, a woman in Warren, Michigan filled out and application at a bank (with her own name) then pulled out a gun and announced a hold up. Then she panicked and fled the scene leaving the application and her ID behind. She was arrested about an hour later. In the understatement of the day police said: "We're probably not dealing with the smartest person in the world."

This time in Lima, Ohio, shoppers at a local supermarket were surprised when sheriffs deputies came up and ask if they were residents of the county and registered voters. If the answeer was yes to both questions. Bam, summoned on the spot for jury duty.



ALL LOCKED UP JUST READY FOR OFFICERS
Cash Burch allegedly was trying to steal a truck. The problem was it wouldn't start easily, so he kept trying and trying, so much so that he wore down the battery. Because of an anti-theft device on the Explorer, the electronic doors on the truck wouldn't work so Mr. Cash found himself locked in when found out by the owner who called police.

PLAYING DEAD DIDN'T WORK
This just feels creepy. A 23 year old man broke into a funeral home in Burgassi, Spain. What he might be trying to steal police don't know, but when they arrived they found the man, playing dead by lying on a table, trying to look like one of the businesses clients. Two things gave him away. Breathing and grungy clothes that didn't match those of the other "residents" ready for their eternal journey.

YOUTH CENTER THEFT
An Austrian village decided to fight crime by building a youth center to help keep kids off the street. One problem. The youth center, a pre-packaged buillding, was stolen before workers could arrive to assemble it. Police are investigating but fear some of the children that the youth centre was aimed at helping may have been involved in the theft.

BOUNCE A CHECK ROB A BANK
Authorities say a man tried to cash a $173 personal check but was told by the teller there wasn't enough money in the account. He then told the teller he had to have the cash or someone was going to kill him. When she still refused to hand over any money, he then wrote her a note saying he was robbing the bank. He escaped and police are searching for him.

Rather than throw on some clothes he grabbed up a torch and the naked cop burst out the door in hot pursuit of the suspect.
